1782 vote of no confidence against the government of Lord North

The 1782 vote of no confidence against the government of Lord North was the first time that a British Prime Minister was forced to resign after a vote of no confidence by the House of Commons. The vote came after a loss in the Battle of Yorktown and the loss of colonies in the American War of Independence.[1] Lord North resigned after the vote.[2]
